Industrial Maintenance encompasses factories, power plants, refineries and municipalities, all of which have a great variety of structures that need periodic inspections and maintenance performed on them. Many of the structures may also be found on dams, for example intake towers, pipelines, trash racks, slide gates to name a few. Additional structures may be found for example traveling water screens, outfall pipelines and pump stations. Industrial maintenance can be challenging in the fact that you are many times entering into a work place that is on limited down time for the dive team to perform the work, and as in the case of refineries for example, have extremely stringent safe practice methods which need to be incorporated into the dive operations plan. Planning ahead and having a good dive operations plan and safety plan including LOTO, AHA’s and JSA’s in place are key to successful industrial maintenance operations.
